Visited a few families this past weekend: Manet’s and my own. I adore the synchronous and sympathetic Manet exhibit at @gardnermuseum, which made me ever more passionate about bringing “Beyond the Frame: Manet and the Women” to the stage, as you can imagine…
I speedily visited my favorite bookstore, and then experienced the most autumnal joy possible carving and conviviating with the fastest family in Vermont 🏃🍁)

Here’s a bit of my new song “Ennui.” It mean

Here’s a bit of my new song “Ennui.” It means the world to me to unveil this first listen from a my first one-woman musical theatre show, “Beyond the Frame.”
This show — stories and songs about artwork of Édouard Manet — draws on my work in jazz and returns me to my theatre roots.
“Ennui” is sung from the perspective of the background singer in his “The Café-Concert” (1879) which I first saw at @gettymuseum and again at @metmuseum (you’ll see it at the end of the video.)

After two private readings, I’m eager to get this piece on its feet and in front of you soon — watch this space to see how it continues to grow, and hopefully find itself Off-Broadway, or at a museum near you, before too long.

I believe the better the party the fewer pictures you take, so I guess that means last night’s gala at @thebonnefont was quite the fête.
This was my experiment into floral accessories which mostly managed to stay on, and a musical foray with @adambirnbaumpiano @bessiesuave and @tedrnash was the perfect way to kick off fall. Such an unforgettable location for such a great cause (@forttryonparktrust)— it’s good to live it again, indeed. 🌃🌺🍁

A little over a week ago I performed my theatrical

A little over a week ago I performed my theatrical project, “Beyond the Frame,” for an invited audience. It was one of the highlights of my creative life, made all the more joyful by my collaborators (especially @jebpatton , @amityrosemusic and @cassandracsencsitz) and by knowing this small birth is only the beginning for this piece.
I am grateful to immortal Édouard Manet for the inspiration that’s fueled this project, and to Dr. Mitsis for the picture-perfect setting he gave our debut.
I’m looking forward to sharing more with you as we progress — thank you for patiently waiting for new music as I work on a new album and this simultaneously. ✨
